Jane´s Walk Málaga (Spain) nos anima a  que paseemos juntos por lugares donde fomentar vínculos y actitudes amigables con los vecinos. Esta entrada la podrá leer en español y en inglés, traducida por José y Patricia Justicia.  En el paseo compartiremos espacio e ideas sobre las características que configuran el barrio del Ensanche Heredia (Soho).

Sus calles nos recibirán agradecidas deseosas de facilitarnos el que vayamos de un sitio, a otro ya que no son nada sin el contacto casual o premeditado de los viandantes. Jane Jacobs defendía que las calles concurridas restan soledad y aislamiento a los que por ellas caminan. Son cauces de vida que nos animan a recorrerlas sea cual sea el motivo para estar allí: contemplar, conocer, resolver, pasear o conversar.

Hemos quedado en la entrada del Tren de cercanías que hay junto al Puente de Tetuán, en el inicio de la Avenida Comandante Benítez a las 11:30 mañana sábado, día 20 de febrero de 2016.

En esta ocasión hablaremos de la importancia del río Guadalmedina y de las corrientes marinas en la formación de los terrenos que dan origen al barrio, de los siete puentes que cruzar un río sin agua, del atractivo de sus calles, de los hombres y mujeres que dan nombre a sus calles, de la reutilización de los terrenos a lo largo de los siglos y, de los atractivos murales urbanos que encontraremos durante el recorrido.

Jane’s Walk Malaga, Spain, encourages us to walk together through neighborhoods where we can foment relationships and friendliness among the residents.

During this walk we will share ideas about the characteristics of the Ensanche  Heredia neighborhood  (Soho) as we experience them.

The  welcoming streets will allow us to move from one place to another, and will facilitate the contact among the walkers. Jane Jacobs claimed that crowded streets will reduce loneliness and isolation among the ones walking through them. They are channels of life that encourage us to walk them regardless of the reason for doing so: to meditate; to meet people; to discuss problems; simply to stroll;  to converse with others.

We are going to meet at the gate of the “Tren de cercanias”  near “Puente de Tetuan,” at the beginning of the “Avenida Comandante Benítez” on Saturday, February 20, 2016  at 11:30AM .

We will talk about  the importance of the Guadalmedina River and the sea currents that create the land  of that neighborhood; of the seven bridges that cross a river without water; of the charm of their streets; of the men and women for whom the streets were named; of the reuse of the land throughout the centuries, and the attractive urban murals that we are going to see during the walk.
